David Wood

David Wood served as a police officer with the Metropolitan Police Service for 31 years, investigating, or leading teams and departments of detectives tackling serious and organised crime attaining the rank of Deputy Assistant Commissioner. In the late 1990s he was Metropolitan Police lead for tackling police corruption, and led nationally on the issue. He has been the Executive Director and operational deputy for the Police Ombudsman of Northern Ireland investigating misconduct by officers of the Police Service of Northern Ireland. David joined the civil service in January 2006 and was a Director and subsequently Chief Executive for the Office for Criminal Justice Reform. In 2008 joined the Board of UK Borders Agency and has been involved, as a Home Office Director and deputy CEO of UKBA, in the leadership of operational Immigration issues since. Holds an MA from Exeter University and a post graduate diploma in Applied Criminology from Cambridge University. A life time member of ACPO, member of MENSA and a Non-Executive Director of two organisations and Trustee in Charity for another
