Paul Hepworth

Paul served as a Police Officer for thirty years, finishing as a Chief Superintendent, District Commander of one of the five areas covering West Yorkshire. He was responsible for leading a team of several hundred officers and staff ensuring that the public were safe. He was an authorised commander for any gun related crime, along with public disorder, protest and football incidents. In addition, Paul was one of three strategic leads responsible for child safeguarding, and sat on the Children’s Safeguarding Board. He was Chair of the Child Criminal Exploitation scrutiny panel and a member of the multi agency Health and Wellbeing Board. He was Chair of the West Yorkshire and regional Superintendents Association and sat on the National Executive Committee.

In addition to his role with the GDC, Paul now also sits as a lay member on fitness to practice hearings for the General Medical Councils MPTS and the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
